The Gherkin

As I said yesterday, I was in the Gherkin in London today helping out with a Career Advisor’s Fair for Universities. Had a great time putting out information regarding LTSB’s new Graduate Proposition. Was great to have a chat with the Career Dept.s for various UK Universities & of course QUB!! Had a great chat with the lady & about the old crew at QUB Career Service (Ann Doris & Deidre Deery!).

Anyways, at the end of the day we were all taken to the top floor (i.e. 40th Floor) for a closing drinks reception & to say the view was incredible would be an absolute understatement… words couldn’t describe how crystal clear London was, how small everything looked – the Tower of London looked the picture of a toy Castle!! – and how easy it was to spot landmarks from on high.

Unfortunately I didn’t have my camera to share the experience (should have thought), but if you check out the link I supplied in yesterday’s update perhaps you can see something of what it’s like.

About Mcfaggen

Having grown up in Co. Fermanagh where most of my family still reside, I thought it would be worthwhile to keep a blog of my travels around the rest of the UK, Europe and the World.

  1. Thats very cool – thats always the building I see in the distance when heading into town and always forget its name – is it nice and swanky inside or has it just got a smart exterior? lol

  2. The very one Nikki… I think it\’s official name is Number 30 St Mary\’s Axe (that\’s the name of the street it\’s on), but the term Gherkin is an unofficial nickname.Actually the interior is pretty swish as well… full of mod cons – but then it\’s only a few years old & when your spending that kind of mony on a building, you might as well go all in!!
