Football

One of God’s greatest gifts to the world… and at the forefront of this week.

On Friday the draw for Euro 2008 was made & wee Norn Iron have been given a difficult task for the qualifiers, that said it’s a cracking list from a supporter’s point of view. The draw was:

Sweden
Spain
Denmark
Latvia
Iceland
Norn Iron
Lichtenstein

So lots of Nordic trips in the offing!! The dates for the games won’t be decided until the 14th February, so a bit away yet & with the first games not being played until early September, there is time yet before we get carried away on ryanair.com or easyjet.co.uk!! But that’s the beauty… all the venues are served by low cost flights (even Iceland!!) so getting there & back shouldn’t break the Bank!! And with a comprehensive list of youth hostels to hand, this could actually be a very cheap set of holidays!! Excellent!!

Also this weekend, Liverpool re-signed Robbie Fowler. The man was a legend at LFC in the 1990’s scoring in every other game for the club. He was a scally & a supporter, so he could do little wrong. He’s been away from the club for four years, but his re-signing is an incredible development & hopefully one good for everyone involved at the club. Go On Son!!

Finally, I attended Brentford v Sunderland today in the FC Cup 4th round. The Bees beat the black cats 2-1 in probably the upset of the day in the cup. The atmosphere in the 11K crowd was decent (although no patch on NI games) and the game was entertaining!! So all in all it’s been a good week.

Also, I did a gym test this morning & I can rest easy, blood pressure is low, heart rate is slow, BMI is acceptable, body fat % is acceptable, hip / waist ratio is normal, flexibility is decent & my fitness is "above average". So all in all a positive story. Horray.

Anyways, take care & keep in touch… time for Match of the Day!!

About Mcfaggen

Having grown up in Co. Fermanagh where most of my family still reside, I thought it would be worthwhile to keep a blog of my travels around the rest of the UK, Europe and the World.
